Anupama Arora Mallik
A self-taught artist and oil painting enthusiast, Anupama Arora Mallik transitioned from a long and successful career in medicine to pursue her true calling—art. After working for over two decades as a consultant pathologist, she chose to follow the creative pull that had always been present in her life. Art was her quiet refuge, a source of joy and balance amidst the intensity of her profession. Deeply inspired by nature and the Impressionist masters, she explores both representational and abstract forms. Oil paint offers her a sense of fluidity and freedom, allowing her to blend emotion, texture, and movement with instinctive ease. Though she also uses brushes and fingers, it is the palette knife that truly dances in her hand, layering bold strokes across surfaces like canvas, tile, wood, and glass. Over the years, she has evolved into a confident visual artist, guided by intuition, emotion, and an enduring reverence for beauty. Her art is an emotional journey that invites the audience to engage with its profound depth and meaning.
Theme of the exhibition was Echoes in Color. To celebrate the timeless beauty of our world and share that joy with others.
Why this exhibition: Anupama Arora Mallik said, “Kolkata is the cultural capital of India, and exhibiting my work here as a solo exhibition had been a dream for a long time.”
It was curated by Madhuchanda Sen.
