Kolkata, 24th March, 2026: Continuing its remarkable journey across prestigious platforms, “ITI: The Beginning”, the debut short film by first-time director and eminent career coach Abhishake De Sarkar, was specially screened at the 11th Bengal Short Film Festival. The occasion was graced by noted actors Debleena Dutt and Biswanath Basu, along with other members of the cast and crew.
The film had already carved a niche for itself on the global stage, earning widespread recognition and multiple accolades. It premiered at the International Kolkata Short Film Festival, where it received nominations in two prestigious categories and went on to win the Best Debutant Director Award. Adding further feathers to its cap, the film clinched the Best Short Film Award at the Indo-Dubai International Festival and secured official selections at globally recognized platforms such as the New York Film & Cinematography Awards and the Berlin Lift-Off Film Festival. The film was also under consideration at several other international festivals, underscoring its growing global appeal.

At its heart, “ITI: The Beginning” probed into the emotional complexities of a child navigating life amidst the ambitions and absences of working parents. With a sensitive and nuanced narrative, the film highlighted a deeply relevant societal concern, where professional pursuits often take precedence over emotional connection, offering a reflective and thought-provoking cinematic experience.
Speaking on the occasion, Abhishake De Sarkar said, “I have spent years guiding students toward successful careers. But somewhere along the way, I realized that success without emotional grounding creates silent voids. ‘ITI: The Beginning’ is my humble attempt to remind the world that while we chase professional excellence, we must not forget the fragile hearts waiting for us at home. This film is just the beginning of many stories I wish to tell.”
