Kolkata, August 16, 2025: With Durga Puja just weeks away, the Akhandakeshari Sarbojanin Durgotsab Committee has kicked off its 67th year celebrations in spectacular style, unveiling both its theme for 2025 – “Shakti” and its theme song at a glittering launch event at Taj Taal Kutir, Kolkata. The occasion marked the official countdown to Bengal’s most awaited festival, blending the power of tradition with the vibrance of modernity.
This year’s theme, “Shakti”, reflects Maa Durga’s divine energy as a guiding light in today’s Digital Age. While modern technology offers immense benefits, it has also brought challenges — from digital addiction to anxiety, depression, and emotional emptiness. The theme draws attention to the growing distance in families and the erosion of real human bonds in a world dominated by virtual connections.
Through “Shakti,” the Committee emphasizes the need to rekindle wisdom, ignite hope, and restore balance in society. It calls upon Maa Durga’s power to lead youth back to nature, real relationships, and mindful use of technology, ensuring progress without being enslaved by it. The theme aims to inspire compassion, awareness, and a mentally sound future for the community.
Complementing this powerful message is the theme song, composed by Pandit Mallar Ghosh, Internationally Famous Rhythm Maestro & Music Composer, and penned by Mallika Ghosh, Eminent Reciter, Poet & Actress. The song beautifully captures the essence of Durga Puja — weaving together cultural roots with contemporary creativity, and echoing the spirit of unity and devotion.
The evening was graced by an impressive line-up of dignitaries, including Shrabanti Chatterjee, Actress; Aditi Munshi, Singer & MLA; Tapash Chatterjee, MLA; and Pusan Gupta, Chairperson, Welfare Board NKDA–HIDCO.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Tapan Mondal, President of the Akhandakeshari Sarbojanin Durgotsab Committee, said:“Our theme and theme song are more than symbols of celebration — they are messages to society. ‘Shakti’ reminds us to embrace technology wisely, while staying rooted in real relationships and inner peace. The grand launch drew a large gathering of community members, media, and cultural enthusiasts, who joined in the celebrations as the theme was revealed and the anthem was performed live for the first time. The melody, rich in emotion and energy, is set to resonate across pandals and playlists throughout the festive season.
