This Mahalaya, Fridaay OTT is all set to premiere Tarpan, a new web film directed by Sreekanta Roy. The webfilm stars Prosun Shome, Gautam Mukherjee and Abanti Dutta in important roles. Presented by Rupa Datta and produced by Camellia Productions Pvt. Ltd., Tarpan is a story about friendship, kindness, second chances and the true meaning of remembering someone.
Set on a Mahalaya morning in Kolkata, the webfilm follows a group of old friends who gather in a park and remember their dear friend Amulya, who is no longer with them. As they talk about Tarpan and paying respect to those who have passed away, they remember how Amulya had changed the life of Haru, a man who was once struggling with alcohol and had lost his way in life.
Amulya gave Haru a second chance and helped him rebuild his life with trust and compassion. Today, Haru runs a tea stall and has found a new purpose in life. Through Haru’s story, the friends slowly understand that Amulya’s greatest legacy was not what he left behind, but the lives he changed while he was alive.
With a simple and emotional story rooted in the spirit of Mahalaya, Tarpan looks at friendship, humanity and the impact one person can have on another’s life.

Speaking about the webfilm and the character, Abanti Dutta says, “I really liked my character from the very first time I read the script. I felt that this woman is very dependent on her husband, and at the same time, her husband is equally dependent on her. She is a very lovable woman who deeply cares for her husband, but she also has the strength and authority to keep him in line when needed. There is a lot of warmth and affection in their relationship, which I really enjoyed portraying. Our webfilm Tarpan is releasing on Fridaay OTT on the day of Mahalaya. I sincerely request everyone to watch our webfilm and support our work. If you watch the webfilm and connect with our story, that would be the true success of our work. Thank you.”
Prosun Shome says, “I had recently started working with Camellia Productions through another film, and that was when I first met Sreekanta da. A few days later, I got a call about Tarpan and was told that they were considering me for the lead. I am truly grateful to Camellia and Sreekanta da for thinking of me. The story is very different and that’s what made me say yes to the webfilm. The entire team felt like a family, and getting to work with such senior actors was a great learning experience for me. I would request everyone to watch Tarpan this Mahalaya and connect with the story. I would also love to hear your feedback on my work. Thank you so much.”
