Kolkata, 25 February 2026: A state-of-the-art AICTE-IDEA Lab (Idea Development, Evaluation and Application Lab) was inaugurated at Guru Nanak Institute of Technology (GNIT), a JIS Group Educational Initiative, by Sardar Taranjit Singh, Managing Director, JIS Group; Sardar Haranjit Singh, Joint Managing Director, JIS Group; and Sardar Simarpreet Singh, Director, JIS Group. Prof. Tapas Chakraborty, Vice Chancellor of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), and Prof. Swarup Kumar Mitra, Principal, GNIT, along with senior academicians, faculty members, students, and industry representatives, were present on the occasion.
The AICTE-IDEA Lab at GNIT features modern, industry-ready infrastructure that supports the entire product development lifecycle—from ideation to prototyping. It is equipped with advanced tools and machinery, including a CNC router, laser cutting machine, 3D scanner, 3D printer, and vinyl cutter, along with high-performance computing systems and collaborative workspaces. The facility is designed to promote interdisciplinary learning, real-world problem-solving, and startup-focused innovation in a safe and professional environment.

Envisioned as a dynamic innovation ecosystem, the AICTE-IDEA Lab aims to foster creativity, design thinking, problem-solving abilities, and entrepreneurial skills among students. Aligned with national initiatives such as Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India, the lab is designed to help students transform ideas into prototypes and practical solutions through experiential and interdisciplinary learning.
