Kolkata, 26 july: Excellent Pictures’s upcoming Bengali Movie ‘Dabba Kaka’ Got its title revealed in a grand event. The event also doubled up as the movies Shuvo Mahurat and Look Set.
Directed by Dipankar Ghosh and Produced by Hassanuzaman Jimmy, ‘Dabba Kaka’ has an ensemble cast Comprising of Rishav Basu, Aishwarya Sen, Sohini Guha Roy, Anindya Sengupta, Vinita Chatterjee, Subhankar Ghatak and many more Prominent faces. Popular actor Aryann Bhowmik will also be seen in an interesting cameo. Veteran actor Pradip Bhattacharya who plays a very important character in the movie missed the event due to prior commitments.
During the event Rishav Basu who plays the Title role of Dabba Kaka said, “I am very excited about this role of Dabba Kaka. Though I cannot reveal much about this character right now, I can tell you that such a character has never been seen before in Bengali film Industry. I am blessed that directors keep faith in me to pull of variety of characters. Being ‘Dabba Kaka’, the titular role is going to be a big responsibility. Also, this movie is based on a real-life Health emergency and about India achieving a landmark in its medical history. That too makes this movie more special.”
Aishwarya Sen said, “I play the role of a village girl in Dabba Kaka. Though audience is more used to see me as an urban bubbly character, this character will be completely different. I am very happy to be paired with Rishav. We have done lot of works together in the past. My mom is also super happy about this. She feels that me and Rishav always look lovely as on-screen couple. Looking forward to have great time shooting.”
Aryann Bhowmik said, “I have a very special appearance in Dabba kaka. I want to keep it as a surprise for now. But I can tell that this special appearance will be a very memorable one. I have some very close friends in the unit. I have also worked with director Dipankar Ghosh in a music video. So, when this offer came saying no was not in the option. Also, I am very happy to be a part of a movie which is about achieving a significant landmark in India’s medical history.”
Sohini Guha Roy said, “The movie has a wonderful concept. I am happy to be a part of this movie. My Character Priyadarshini is similar to my own persona to some extent but also has few other shades. This Character goes through a lot of turmoil in her personal life. Where the complexity of relations lead Priyadarshini will revealed in the climax of the movie. This movie also celebrates the achieving of a very important milestone in Indian’s medical History.”
Anindya Sengupta said, “Dabba Kaka is based on an incredible true story and I am happy to be a part of this. My Character Probal is very different from the characters I have played till now. He will be seen as a strong village guy who is very protective about his fellow villagers. My character has a number of shades and plays a very important role till the movie’s climax. I love the look given to me in this movie. Now I am looking forward to the shooting which I am sure will be fun.”
Vinita Chatterjee said, “I am coming back to the big screen after a break. Audience till now have seen me in a very urban avatar. Now they will be amazed to see me in a totally different look. My character Uma is very important in the movie and is pivotal in achieving the climax of the movie.”
Director Dipankar Ghosh said, “Dabba Kaka is a very unique concept which came from none other than by better half Sharmistha. Dabba Kakka is set under the backdrop of a Health emergency and tells the grassroot level story of how a historic medical landmark was achieved by India. I was developing this concept for a long time and finally when Excellent Pictures came forward to invest in this movie, we wasted no time and started rolling the ball forward. We have assembled a lovely cast. I am also thankful to our producer Hassanuzaman Jimmy for supporting us every way.”
Subhankar Ghatak said, “I will be seen as Dabba Kaka’s 24x 7 company. My character is some who guides the protagonist Dabba Kaka around the village he arrives for the health campaign. I am glad to play such a character and be a part of such a movie which tells the story of one of India’s important achievement in medical history.
Casting director Raja JP Mandal said, “ It was quite challenging to bring together such an ensemble cast. Even some major casts got shuffled just few hours before the Mahurat as they faced date clashes with their other ongoing projects. All the major actors will be seen in looks they have not donned before. This way we wanted to give the audience a surprise with the casting and hopefully will achieve that. I am thankful to all the actors who have kept faith on us and have come onboard. I am also thankful to director Dipankar Ghosh and producer Hassanuzaman Jimmy for keeping faith on me with such an important responsibility.
