Kolkata, June 07, 2025 — Following the digital rollout of its trailer and title track, Pokkhirajer Dim, the upcoming science-fantasy film from director Soukarya Ghosal, was celebrated today in a special showcase event hosted by Jio Studios and SVF Entertainment. Attended by members of the press, the event offered a special showcase of the trailer and title track, which is slated for a theatrical release on 13th June 2025.
Set in the fictional village of Akashgunj, Pokkhirajer Dim tells the story of a schoolboy named Ghoton (played by Mahabrata Basu), who desperate to pass a crucial retest accidentally stumbles upon a mythical stone buried inside an old, forgotten temple. With the help of his eccentric science teacher Batabyal Sir (by Anirban Bhattacharya) and his steadfast friend Poppins (by Anumegha Banerjee), he soon discovers the stone’s supernatural power: it can unearth hidden emotions. But what starts as a curious academic pursuit quickly turns into a high-stakes adventure as foreign archaeologists begin to close in, threatening to expose and exploit the relic’s secret.
At the event, Director Soukarya Ghosal, who earlier introduced audiences to the world of Rainbow Jelly, remarked, “Pokkhirajer Dim comes from the same universe. Characters like Ghoton and Poppins are spiritual successors—curious, imaginative, and quietly resilient. This is a story that brings together science and folklore, exploring the invisible world of feelings through a lens of wonder.”
The trailer, which had dropped earlier, was screened for the audience to loud applause. Also presented was the film’s enchanting title track, which had been released digitally the previous day. Written by Soukarya himself and music by Nabarun Bose, the song is sung by Anirban Bhattacharya, who also stars in the film. Speaking about the music, Anirban shared, “Being part of this film felt like stepping into a world that’s both nostalgic and refreshingly new. Singing the title track was a deeply personal experience; Soukarya’s lyrics are laced with wonder, and Nabarun’s arrangement brought that magic to life. I truly look forward to the audience discovering this journey when the film releases on 13th June, and I hope they share their thoughts with us.”
Anirban is joined by talented kids Mahabrata Basu and Anumegha Banerjee. Reflecting on the filming experience, Mahabrata said, “This was the most exciting thing I’ve ever done. Ghoton is just like so many kids, scared, curious, and brave all at once.” Anumegha echoed the sentiment, adding, “It felt like we were living in Akashgunj. Every day on set was a small adventure. We weren’t just acting, we were discovering.”
With its unique blend of heart, humour, and imagination, Pokkhirajer Dim is poised to be a cinematic journey that resonates with both children and adults. Today’s event not only showcased the film’s audio-visual elements but also celebrated a vision of storytelling that is rooted in emotion, curiosity, and cultural richness.
Pokkhirajer Dim will be released in theatres on 13th June 2025.
