Kolkata, May 10, 2026 — In a much-anticipated musical launch, Windows Production and Junglee Music have officially released “Chole Jeo Na,” the soul-stirring new track from the upcoming mystery drama, Phool Pishi O Edward. Directed by the powerhouse duo Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, the film is already generating significant buzz ahead of its theatrical release on May 29, 2026.
The song serves as a visual and auditory masterpiece, featuring National Award-winning actress Ananya Chatterjee in a rare and mesmerizing dance performance. After a long hiatus from dancing on screen, Chatterjee’s graceful movements breathe life into the character of Putul Bai, leaving fans and critics alike in awe of her versatility.
Composed by the maestro Joy Sarkar, “Chole Jeo Na” is a grand production that blends classical elegance with cinematic scale. Speaking about the journey of the song, Sarkar shared his excitement:
“Chole Jeyo Na—this is a very important song for Phool Pishi O Edward. It has a semi-classical touch to it. Srijato wrote it, and Anashmita sang it. This is Anashmita’s first full-fledged song for a film. I’ve known her for a long time; she’s done a lot of backing vocals and scratches for my team, but seeing her get such a big break through a major production house and two renowned directors gives me great joy. She sang it beautifully, wonderfully.
And what can I say about Srijato? I’ve worked with him so much. He understands the temperament of a song so well, and our understanding is so good that we made this song with a lot of joy. We already had the brief—it needed Kathak elements because of Putul Bai’s character—and we had heard the full script. So that vision was there from the start.
The day Srijato and I finished the song at my house, we asked Shibu (Shiboprosad Mukherjee), ‘Can you come over for a bit?’. Shibu arrived shortly after. We played the song for him on the harmonium, just like the old days when songs were composed sitting face-to-face. Shibu liked it instantly and got very excited. He immediately sent a video of me singing while playing the harmonium to Nandita-di. She heard it and said right away, ‘It’s great, the song is locked’.
That’s how the song was created. For the recording, many musicians were involved. Sushmita-di composed the Kathak bols, which we used in two places. There was a large string section, rhythm section, along with sitar and santoor—we recorded it on a very grand scale. Now that the song is about to be released, I feel very good. I’m waiting for the listeners’ reaction and to see how it feels in the cinema hall. Ananya is also a long-time friend of mine, and she worked very hard for this song; she even called me while rehearsing because she loved it so much. Overall, I’m in a very positive mindset that everyone will love the song and the film.”
The collaboration between Windows Production and Junglee Music continues to set a high bar for Bengali film music, promising that Phool Pishi O Edward will be a treat for both the ears and the eyes when it hits theaters this May.
