Barasat, 19th December 2025: Narayana Hospital, Barasat, has launched a dedicated biweekly Electrophysiology (EP) Clinic, reinforcing its commitment to advanced cardiac diagnostics and patient education in North 24 Parganas. The initiative was marked by an EP Awareness Session held on December 19, 2025, aimed at improving public understanding of heart rhythm disorders and the role of advanced EP testing in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
The awareness session focused on EP Testing, an advanced diagnostic procedure used to evaluate abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias). Speakers highlighted that EP testing requires specialised training and certification, and only certified cardiologists are qualified to perform the test, a key differentiator in ensuring patient safety and clinical accuracy. Narayana Hospital, Barasat, currently stands out as the only hospital in Barasat offering EP testing, making advanced rhythm evaluation more accessible to patients in the region.
The session was led by a panel of experienced cardiologists who are part of this initiative, including Dr. Debabrata Bera, Dr. Saroj Kumar Choudhury, Dr. Pankaj Sarkar, Dr. Subhashis Dey, and Dr. Amira Shaik. They addressed common symptoms of arrhythmias such as palpitations, unexplained dizziness, fainting spells, and breathlessness, emphasising the importance of timely evaluation and evidence-based testing.

As part of the launch, Narayana Health, Barasat, announced that the EP Clinic will operate every Friday and Saturday, providing structured consultations, appropriate referrals for EP testing, and continuity of care under expert supervision.
Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Subhasis Bhattacharya, Facility Director, Narayana Hospital, Barasat, said, “The launch of our biweekly EP Clinic reflects Narayana Health’s focus on bringing advanced, specialised cardiac care closer to the community. Through this awareness session and regular clinics, we aim to educate patients about heart rhythm disorders and ensure access to certified expertise and advanced diagnostics, without the need to travel to distant centres.”
Electrophysiology testing plays an important role in identifying the cause and pattern of abnormal heart rhythms and helps clinicians plan appropriate treatment pathways. With structured access to EP evaluation, patients experiencing unexplained cardiac symptoms can receive timely, evidence-based assessment under specialist supervision.
